Slabs (Including Irregular Shapes)
Rule of Thumb: Add 1/4″ to your slab
thickness to account for slight variations in grade.
Check Your Grade: If your depth varies
(e.g., from 2.5″ to 4″), the best fix—for both
quality and cost—is to re-grade evenly.
Odd Shapes Made Easy: Break complex shapes
into simple rectangles or triangles. For example, a driveway
13′ wide at one end and 17′ at the other,
25′ long, can be estimated as 15′ × 25′.

Steps
Break each step into a box (height × width × depth).
Calculate the volume for each step, then add the totals
together.

Always Add a Safety Margin
Never order the exact amount. Add at least 0.25 cubic yards
to your final total.
